I fly internationally quite a lot , seeing that I have family in South Africa and the United Kingdom. So I have definitely had my fair share of flying in my life. When I was still studying at varsity you always seemed to be looking for great travel deals and Emirates airlines always seemed to be a really well priced airline that I  enjoyed flying with. Emirates is the national airline of Dubai and also the largest in the Middle East.

The fact that most international flights fly through Dubai International airport actually gives away the clue as to why Emirates can afford to have cheaper tickets a lot of times. Take for example when I flew from Cape Town, South Africa to London ,UK.  If you know a bit about geography you’ll know that flying via Dubai is a bit of  diversion when flying from Cape Town to London. Hence the reason why the total time in the air is 16 hrs , compared to 12 hrs where you to be  flying direct with another airline. Thus a reduction in total price is compensating for the increase in time you spend in the air.

Stopping in Dubai International is also not one of the worst things in the world , as Dubai International is definitely geared at international travelers who have some time and cash to spend in their shops. There are literally hundreds of shops , housing all the world’s most famous brands. One thing to note for those of you guys who smoke – the designated smoking areas in Dubai airport are way to  the bottom end of the Terminals , so be prepared for a long walk. You could smoke in some of the pubs though , if you order a drink or get something to eat.

Emirates have consistently been awarded as the airline with the best in-flight entertainment in the world. I can still remember from my last Emirates flight how impressed I was by the vast amount of really up-to-date  movies available to watch. Their air hostesses are all impeccably dressed and have really been friendly towards me. The airline’s food was also really good to me personally ,but then again food is a real personal thing and it all depends on ones own personal taste. Their seats are something that stood out for me as they were real comfortable and quite spacious.(seeing that I’m pretty tall)

Another great thing to consider when flying long international flights via Dubai might be to visit Dubai for a couple of days. I know you can split your flights free of charge, if you decide to stay for a couple of days.Just thought it is something to consider,seeing that one is already flying through Dubai and that it would break up a long flight into two.All in all I would rate the quality of service that I got when I flew with Emirates as outstanding. Gonna have to try really hard to find anything to complain about. So zero complaints.
