Bank of America – Checking Account

18 March 2011written by Cisko 3 Comments

I traveled to the US early 2010 and needed to open a bank account at a reputable bank that had branches in the biggest cities I planned traveling to. Bank of America is America’s largest bank and is also in the Top 10 largest companies in the US. The connection with Barclays Bank UK and the fact that I have an account there made it obvious for me to go to bank of America to open an Account when I landed in Dallas.Texas.

A basically needed an account to keep my traveling money and to use when buying things. A standard checking account appealed to me , seeing than the basics I needed was covered. I had to show 2 forms of identification (eg. Passport and Drivers License) and had to deposit 100US$ in order to open a checking account. A monthly all-inclusive maintenance fee of 8.95US$ seemed pretty reasonable compared to other US banks and places I’ve traveled to.

I received a 1-month temporary bank card that I was able to use immediately. My permanent card was received 4 working days later in the post at my Dallas address. The staff was extremely helpful and opening my account was pretty hassle-free. With my new account I was able to make payments , deposits and  transfers pretty easily.I can honestly say that I have not had any problem with Bank of America and will keep on supporting them in the future.
